How it all started…

In December of 2023, BeFriendLife Foundation’s Project Swasthya Team read an inspiring article about Jayanti Buruda – a young journalist who founded Bada Didi Union in Malkangiri to provide menstrual health and hygiene awareness.

BeFriendLife Foundation (BFL) sent our first consignment of 200 packets of sanitary pads to support Bada Didi Union in Bonda Ghati village, Malkangiri. Jayanti and her team started the Pad Bank initiative – a solution to provide easy access to sanitary pads. Currently, there are 3 pad banks, 2 of which are in remote locations in Malkangiri, supporting 300 tribal women.
